- Amy is going to start in our class next week and she came to visit us today. George
- We had a week off school because there was an earthquake in Christchurch. We had to wait to be told when the school was safe before we could go back. Rory & Lily
- We had 2 African people come to teach some African drums and we all got to have a go and the teachers did a funny dance. Max
- Jordan, Rory and Emily had their birthday this term. Max
- We have been practicing our production for next week. Jordan
- We learnt a new Jump Jam song today - we can now dance to the Candyman song. Emily
- We are now in round 2 for the Star Child. Hugo
- We have painted different trees for different seasons when Miss Phelps was here. Xavier
- We have learnt about fractions, we now know how to half and quarter groups of objects. Lucas
- We have been learning some spelling words and Miss Kincaid tests us to see if we can get 10 out of 10. Justine
- We have had an Earthquake drill to teach us how to be safe in an Earthquake. Reuben
- We have learnt about seasons and how the earth rotates around the sun and we are the Southern Hemisphere and if we are closest to the sun we will be having summer. George
- Every Monday we get a new learning rubric to help us with our independent learning. We get to choose what activites to do at what time. George

Term 3 Week 1
What have we been up to this week?
* We presented our posters of the Countries in the Soccer World Cup - Sophie
* Our new handwriting and poem focus diagraph ending sounds was 'ng' as in bang - Lily
* We sang the 2 songs to welcome the new people to the school (the Powhiri) - Max
* The new star child is Sophie this week - Sophie
* We have welcomed Miss Phelps into our class for the next 5 weeks - Renee
* We have rearranged our tables and have new groups and new names - Charlotte
* Maths groups have changed around - Hugo
* We finished our SMARTS on the Soccer World Cup this week - Max
* We have started our Mihi's so we can have them ready for our Student Led Conferences in week 10 this term - Larissa
* We discovered what SMARTs we are strong in and what SMARTs we need to develop - Max
* We now have Toby coming in for Miss Kincaid on Thursday's instead of Mrs B - Bella
* Spain won the Soccer World Cup 2010 - Xavier

Term 2 Week 10
This week team 13 have
* been learning about the final blend nch for handwriting and poetry - Bella
* been writing about how to make a friend - Hugo
* been learning about the Soccer World Cup and all the different SMARTS like Picture smart, Music Smart, Group/People Smart, Self Smart, Word Smart, Maths/Logic Smart and Body Smart - Rory
* made a big card for Beth to say Goodbye (Boo hoo we will miss you) and we had a shared lunch that was a huge surprise for her and we all loved it. - Max
* been doing a new song for jump jam but we can't remember the name of it - Justine
* been writing about brushing our teeth and how to make toast - Ryan
* been getting ready for our school Disco tonight - Emily
* been learning how to write all the numbers from one to twenty in english, in digits and in Maori - Sophie
* learnt what smart we are more confident with and what smarts we need to concentrate on and work on - Xavier
* leanrt some Maori waiata's and made up some new Maori names using 3 of the different sounds in Maori - Hugo
* made up our success criteria for our maths activities. Now we know when we have finished an activity and go to the next activity - Max
* watched a fabulous magic show from Elregoe and his friendly assistant Sue. We learnt how to stop being a bully at school and how we have the power to make the right choices. - Larissa

Term 2 Week 6
What have we been learning the last few weeks?
* We have been doing final blends for our handwriting and poetry. Max
* We have been learning how to make stuff like popcorn and banana splits. Charlotte
* The star children for the past few weeks have been Charlotte, Max, Jordan and Hugo. Lily
* We had a hangi for all the year 2's during cultural festival week. Rueben.
* We have been learning about the Maori culture. We did weaving, and we learnt some Rakau games. We learnt how to prepare for a hangi, by preparing vegetables, digging a big hole in the ground, and safety precautions around a hangi pit. Lucas and Justine
* We have been learning about the 7 stars of Matariki - Charlotte
* Reuben and Max had their birthdays and had morning tea with Mr Sibson. Max
* We learnt a couple of new songs - Star treking across the universe and a Matariki song. Xavier
* We put on and performed at the whole school assembly in week 5. - Hugo
* Miss Captain was teaching us because Miss Kincaid was sick. - Sophie
* We have been learning about procedural writing, this is instructions and steps on how to make stuff and how to do stuff. - Jackson & Bella
* We are learning about shapes with Mrs B and patterns with Miss Kincaid - Lewes and Emily
* Miss Kincaid is teaching the triangle group about the symbols for more than and less than and equal to - Lily
* We have learnt who the best people are to "C3B4ME" for the different subjects. This list is on the wall next to our Tidy Kiwi jobs. - Max
* The learning reports went home and our parents came in to conference with Miss Kincaid.
* The weather has been cold and rainy and we have been stuck inside for the last week and more. But we are lucky because we have been able to watch movies like Flushed Away, Spongebob Squarepants and Shrek 2. Renee and Jason

* We have changed the way we do maths and reading. We had to work on activities in our groups and now we can do activities with anyone but we have to go in the order and there can only be 6 on each activity at a time - Max.
* We have been sitting in our table lines on the mat. - Sophie.
* We have been doing the roll in the morning in Fijian (Bula) last week and German (Guten Tag or Guten Morgan) this week - Bella and Larissa.
